Ravelry pattern page
“Kvick” means fast, and these sure are! A perfect stash-busting gift project, and make a few pair for yourself while your at it!
Pattern uses US crochet terms.
Working both mitts at the same time, alternating between them is a good idea – it helps you make sure you work them the same, and you don’t have to deal with one-(insert pair part here)-syndrome.
The mitts are worked in the round from the top, mainly using hdc’s and replacing first hdc of each round with 2 ch.
Gauge:
Approximately 4 hdc’s and 5 rows per inch
Materials:
MC: 100 yards/90 meters of DK weight yarn
CC: A couple of yards/meters for edgings
Yarn suggestions: Drops Karisma, Malabrigo Rios, Järbo Fantasi, Artesano Superwash Merino DK
4.5 mm crochet hook, or size to reach gauge
Abbreviations:
MC = main color
CC = contrast color
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Hdc2tog = hdc the next 2 sts together (1 st decreased)
Sl st = slip stitch
Sts = stitches
Sk = skip
Instructions
Mitt:
With MC, ch 28. Join with sl st to first ch – be careful not to twist.
R1: Ch2, hdc in the next st and around, finish with sl st to 2nd starting ch. (28 sts)
Note: You can try the mitt on at this point, to see if it sits comfortably around the base of your fingers. If you need to adjust the number of starting sts, keep in mind that the edging need an even number of sts.
R2-5: Repeat round 1.
R6: Ch2, hdc in each of the next 3 sts, ch9, skip 5 sts, hdc in the next st and around, finish with sl st to 2nd starting ch. (32 sts – 4 sts increased)

R10: Ch2, hdc until 3 sts before center of thumb hole, hdc2tog, hdc in the next st, hdc2tog, hdc in the next st and around, finish with sl st to 2nd starting ch. (30 sts)

R2: Ch1, sc in the same st, ch2, sk 1, *sc in the next st, ch2, sk1*, repeat *-* around, finish with sl st to starting sc.
R3; Sl st to ch space, ch1, *sc in the next chain space, ch2,*, repeat *-* around, finish with sl st to starting sc.

Note: If working the edging longer up along the arm, continue repeating round 3. Replace the “ch2” with “ch3” after a while, to get more room in the “sleeve”.
